Whats on at The Carlton Gallery
November 4, 2019 @ 10:00 am - November 18, 2019 @ 2:00 pm
Jan Shoemark Glass Artist
Jan is known as a glass artist who cuts glass like a lead-lighter but uses the mosaic techniques of glue and grout to create a range of different styles of art from farm scenes and animals, native birds, steampunk artworks and our iconic New Zealand scenes. Each piece of art is unique. Jan creates both indoor and outdoor artworks but please note all mirrors are designed for indoor use only.
Jan will also do commissions and will make to order.
The majority of coloured glass which is available to buy in New Zealand is now made in the States or Mexico and each sheet is hand poured which creates its own glass variations in both colour and in some cases texture.
Jan has her own home gallery situated in Waitoa open by appointment only. Group bookings are welcome. There is a charge to give a demonstration on the glass for groups. You need to contact Jan to discuss arrangements. In her gallery you will find some works are display only due to some glass are now deleted lines
You can wander the outdoor gallery where you will find a range of outdoor art from bottle-walls and mirror balls to glass art pictures. The gallery is forever changing. At present Jan is developing a steampunk area to her gallery which items aren’t for sale but to create and interest and talking feature.
