Medium: Acrylic on Sign Plywood

Size: 2.8 sq m.

The 2011 Mural Contest was won by Alex McLeod for his interpretation of the festival theme of  ’In a Land of  Plenty’.

His painting “Aotearoa” was a high angle perceptive of children as observers, perhaps from a gallery or transition places as past, present and future curators of the land below. Three triptych panels highlight the natural resources of the past, present times and future sequences exploring man’s future. The harbour in the mural follows the shape of the Treaty of  Waitangi.

You can find it at the Bay of Plenty Times offices in the Village Complex.
